Job Title - Deputy Club Co-ordinator
Reports to: 
Club Co-ordinator 
Job Summary:
  • Assist with day to day organisation and day to day management of the club including assistance with management of staff, premises and equipment
  • Provision of playcare within club policies and procedures.
  • Stand in as Club Co-ordinator when required

Principal Duties:

  • Ensuring that the club operates through assisting with the management of staff, premises and equipment, collection of fees and liaison with other Playworkers to provide complementary activities and share skills.
  • Ensuring that the programme of activities is interesting to the children and young people using the facilities by developing, planning, costing and leading appropriate on site activities and identifying and accommodating changing 
  • Ensuring the safety and well being of children in the club through checking and maintaining play equipment, undertaking first line child protection measures and undertaking activities appropriate to the users at any given time.Taking a role to support the Co-ordinator in the implementation and monitoring of new initiatives ensuring that where necessary staff are availed of the necessary upskilling to enable the service to adapt to change and function efficiently.
  • Assist the co-ordinator to plan, prepare and provide creative and appropriate play opportunities in a safe and caring environment
  • To carry out day to day administration, record keeping, ordering and purchasing materials and equipment
  • Undertake training which may be required by the registering authority and to contribute to professional development.
  • Work within agreed policies.
  • To act as Club Deputy Co-ordinator and stand in a Co-ordinator as required.

Person Specification

Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Experience of supervising staff
  • Computer literate

Knowledge
  • Understand the range of needs which children and their families may have.
  • Understand the key issues relating to quality playcare.
  • Understand the key issues of equal opportunities in this field of work.

Skills
  • Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative play.
  • Ability to communicate well with a wide range of groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to use judgement and common sense.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working with 4-11 year olds.
  • Experience of working with a voluntary management committee.
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Qualifications
  • Appropriate playwork qualification (NVQ level 4)or willingness to work towards this.
  • Current First Aid certificate is desirable.
  • Appropriate Child Protection training is desirable.

Overview
Rate of pay - £8.50 per hour.


Hours of work -23 hrs per week ‐ usual hours will be –
Mon-Thur - Morning Sessions –8-9am  plus Afternoon Sessions – 1.30‐6pm,

However -
These hours are subject to increase during school holidays.  Please also note there will be a requirement to cover Friday shifts which are 8-9 and 11.30-6 on occasion when the club needs dictate such as holiday/sickness cover this will be in accordance with your contract of employment.
