Job Title - Playworker- Maternity Cover
Reports to: 
Club Co-ordinator or in their absence Club Deputy.
Job Summary:
  • Assist with day to day organisation of the club.
  • Provision of playcare within club policies and procedures.

Principal Duties:
  • Assist the co-ordinator to plan, prepare and provide creative and appropriate play opportunities in a safe and caring environment.
  • Provide full care for the children including delivery of children to school, collection of children from school and the safe delivery to parents and/or named carers.
  • Assist the co-ordinator to ensure that refreshments are provided and meet the required standards of hygiene, health and safety.
  • Consult with children and involve them in the planning of activities.
  • Undertake training which may be required by the registering authority and to contribute to professional development.
  • Work within agreed policies.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with children.
Knowledge
  • Understand the range of needs which children and their families may have.
  • Understand the key issues relating to quality playcare.
  • Understand the key issues of equal opportunities in this field of work.

Skills
  • Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative play.
  • Ability to communicate well with a wide range of groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to use judgement and common sense.

Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working with 4-11 year olds.
  • Experience of working with a voluntary management committee.
  • Ability to work on own initiative
Qualifications
  • Appropriate play work qualification (SVQ level 2 or 3)or willingness to work towards this.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Appropriate Child Protection training

23 hrs per week ‐ usual hours will be - Mon, Tues,Wed, Thur – 3pm‐6pm, Fri 11.30 ‐6pm and every morning (Mon to Fri) from7.45am - 8.45am

However -
These hours are subject to increase during school holidays.  Please also note there will be a requirement to cover morning shifts on occasion when the club needs dictate such as holiday/sickness cover this will be in accordance with your contract of employment.


Successful applicants are required to provide an PVG. PVG expense will be met by employer.
